An account can end the month fine and still go below zero for a few days in between: the rent goes out on the 1st, the salary comes in on the 28th. Xpenses walks your bills and incomes day by day and warns you before that happens. This is part of Pro.
On screen
When an account will drop below zero this month, a red notice under the orange card says which account, how far and on which day, for example "Current account will drop to -2,075.00 on 25 November." The account card shows the lowest point in red on its curve.
Without Pro you see that an account will go below zero this month, without the day and the amount.
By notification or e-mail
With Payment reminders on (Settings > Preferences), Xpenses also tells you a few days ahead: each morning it checks the next 7 days and, if an account will go below zero, it sends one warning for that day. It does not repeat the same warning every morning. With the phone app and notifications allowed, it arrives as a notification; otherwise by e-mail. See reminders.
How the days are placed
A bill with a due day is counted on that day; a late one, today. A bill without a due day is counted on the 1st and an income without one on the last day of the month: the safe side, so the low point is never better than reality. Give your bills and salary their real due days for an exact curve.
What to do with a warning
- Move money in before that day: plan a transfer from savings.
- Change the account a bill is paid from, or move its due day if your provider allows it.
- Check that the balance is right: an account whose balance today is too low will warn too early.
