Xpenses works in any browser, on a computer or a phone. The phone app adds what a browser cannot: widgets on your home screen, notifications, and a lock with your fingerprint or face. Your account, data and plan are the same everywhere: sign in with the same e-mail.
Get the app
- Android: Xpenses on Google Play.
- iPhone: the app is not on the App Store yet. Until then, open xpenses.app in Safari, sign in, and use Share > Add to Home Screen: it opens like an app.
Sign in with your e-mail and password. Google sign-in does not work inside apps: if you created your account with Google, first set a password on the website, in Settings > Password.
Home-screen widgets
A widget shows your numbers without opening the app. Touch and hold an empty spot of your home screen, choose Widgets, find Xpenses and drag one in:
| Widget | Shows |
|---|---|
| Month end | What you will have at the end of the month. |
| Can spend | How much you can spend a day until payday (the daily amount). |
| Balance | With Pro, the curve of your total for the next 30 days, with its lowest point and payday. Without Pro it shows the month end. |
| Upcoming bills | What is due on each of the next days. |
Widgets update on their own. Each phone with a widget appears in Settings > Widgets; remove a phone you no longer use there and its widgets stop showing your numbers.
Lock with fingerprint or face (Pro)
In the app, Settings > Security > Lock with fingerprint or face asks for your fingerprint, your face or the phone's code when you open Xpenses or come back to it after a minute. The setting is per phone.
Notifications
Allow notifications when the app asks, and reminders arrive on your phone instead of by e-mail: the bills due today and, with Pro, the warning before an account goes below zero.
Receipts with the camera
In the app, Read a receipt or invoice also offers Take a photo, straight from the camera. See scanning receipts.
Ask an AI assistant
You can also ask ChatGPT or Claude about your numbers: use Xpenses with ChatGPT and Claude.
