A household's money is easier to run when both of you see the same numbers. In Xpenses you invite your partner into your wallet: the accounts, bills and payments you plan together. Either of you can add a bill or tick a payment, and the other sees it at once. Sharing is part of Pro, and one subscription covers you both.
Invite your partner
- Open Settings and go to Shared wallet.
- Type your partner's e-mail and tap Invite.
- Your partner gets an e-mail with a link, valid for 7 days. Until they accept, the invitation shows as pending.
Your partner joins
The link opens the invitation. If your partner already has an Xpenses account with that e-mail, they sign in; if not, they create one with it. Then they tap Join. From then on, both of you see the shared wallet.
Joining does not merge anything: your partner's own wallet stays theirs. Each of you can have your own wallet and the shared one, and switch between them in Settings. When you have more than one wallet, its name appears at the top of the dashboard.
Paying together
Whoever pays a bill ticks it, on their own phone. The other sees it as paid straight away, so nobody pays the electricity twice and nobody wonders whether the rent went out.
Under Recent activity in Settings, a shared wallet keeps a history of who did what: who added a bill, changed an amount or ticked a payment, with the date.
Leaving or removing
- A member can leave the wallet in Settings and go back to their own.
- The owner can remove a member, or cancel a pending invitation.
- If the owner deletes their Xpenses account, the shared wallet is deleted with it. Export it first if your partner wants to keep the data (export).
Who pays for Pro
Only the wallet's owner needs Pro. While your partner is working in your wallet, they get its Pro features too, without paying.
How to split the bills
Joint account, separate accounts or a mix? Each works in Xpenses: add the joint account and, if you like, each person's own account to the wallet. For the money side of that decision, see how couples manage money.
